The Butterfly House is one of the top destinations for families in St. Louis! I’m not going to lie, butterflies have kinda always freaked me out, but I figured you only live once (ya know, YOLO!) so I decided I’d go anyway. With over 42 different types of butterflies and a hatchery where they hatch butterflies, the Butterfly House seemed pretty cool.
This was my favorite butterfly!! Isn’t she gorgeous?!
One of the things they tell you is to be careful when you walk through so you don’t step on any of the butterflies. They land on the pathway A LOT.
I wondered how they didn’t get out of their little greenhouse area, but there is a checkpoint before you go in and when you come out as well. This way, they can get those little fellas back into their home in case they light on you.
Isn’t this one gorgeous?! I couldn’t figure out what kind of butterfly it was while I was there, otherwise I’d tell ya all about it because I’m obsessed!! Those colors and that pattern are just amazing. Since I visited the Conservatory in early spring, none of the outdoor plants or butterflies were around yet. This just means I have to go back sometime, right?!
Here is a look at the hatchery they have (sorry for the blurry phone photo):
Check out this freshly hatched butterfly!! Isn’t she beautiful?!
